About MDH
In 1983, our founder, Mercedes Diaz, opened her first residential facility in Whittier, California, serving Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs). Her children helped out by mowing lawns and cooking meals, making sure the home was always in great shape. Over the years, her care facilities, then called Mercedes Diaz Homes, became known for their exceptional service and warm, family-like atmosphere. As more people heard about us, the business grew into what is now known as MDH Network.

Today, over 40 years later, Mercedes’ children run the company, which has 31 residential facilities and numerous programs to support people with IDDs. MDH Network is considered a respected leader in the industry, and we look forward to welcoming you into our family.

When families choose our services, they choose more than just support—they choose a dedicated partner committed to their loved one’s dignity, empowerment, and well-being. We honor each individual’s voice, respect their choices, and provide compassionate, person-centered care that helps them thrive. Here are some of the ways we make a difference:

Adult Residential Facilities: Since 1983, MDH Adult Residential Facilities have provided comfortable, family-oriented home environments for individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities (IDDs). We create a safe, supportive home atmosphere where loved ones can enhance their quality of life and reach their personal goals.

El Sol Medical Focus Day Program: This program is tailored to more medically fragile adults with IDDs. Our caring support team, which includes licensed nurses, works hard to keep loved ones as healthy as possible so individuals can stay active and empowered.

Community Integration Program: For nearly twenty years, this program has helped Individuals get involved in their communities. We help clients gain the abilities needed to find employment, continue education, stay healthy, and learn essential social skills.

Coordinated Support Services: These programs help children and adults with IDDs get the support they deserve quickly and effectively. We guide clients through the sometimes confusing process of getting the right services they need, so they can thrive and be happy.

Independent Living Services: This program is tailored to adults with IDDs preparing to live on their own. Whether they live with family or will transition from a group home, we make sure they’re trained on crucial life skills so they can succeed independently.

Supported Living Services: This program works with adults with IDDs who already have or want to find their own living arrangements. We help them create a safe, personalized home environment, set routines, and build a vibrant long-term community experience.
