ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary role of this position is to conducts small group trainings both inside the building and out in the community. Trainings are for vocational skills, independent living skills and socialization. Additionally, this role is responsible for on site and off site job coaching of individuals with independent employment. To be successful in this role, candidates should excel in these areas.

1. Must be willing and able to function productively in a team-centered work environment.
2. Be able to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
3. Work directly with Program Directors to ensure appropriate supervision and training to individuals serviced by VCDI & TCDI.
4. Review, analyze, develop and identify versions of vocational support and training to ensure ever-adapting curriculum and practices to meet the goals of regional center clientele.
5. Develop and administer goal-oriented, vocational services that further promote individual independence in clients’ respective places of employment and communities.
6. Exercise good judgment in the execution of behavioral crisis interventions.
7. Professionally represent VCDI & TCDI in all outside contacts.
8. Successfully complete all trainings as required by federal, state, county and other funding agencies, as well as, trainings as identified by the Program Manager and/or Program Director, with recommendation of the board of directors.

Summer House, Inc. is a non-profit organization that supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) throughout Yolo County CA. We feel as though there is no one “right” living option for adults with IDD and are proud to offer four different programs with varying levels of support depending on an individual’s needs.

In existence since 1974, we offer two Adults Residential Facilities; one located in Woodland and one in Davis. These licensed homes are staff operated to ensure quality care with a robust program design for person centered support of daily living skills and individual goals. Each of our 12 residents have their own bedroom, many of which also have private bathrooms and there is ample space in the homes for gathering with housemates or spending time alone. The residential home a great option for people who enjoy the socialization of congregate living and need and want support 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Our Independent Living Services Program is a program for people who want to live on their own and can do so with minimal support from staff (about 15-20 hours per month). In this program staff work 1:1 on very specific training goals with people who live in their own home or with their family.

Our Supported Living Services Program provides staff to work 1:1 with adults who live in their own homes. This flexible, tailored service can offer support up to 27 hours a day depending on an individual’s needs. People choosing this living environment can live alone or with roommates. We choose intentionally slow growth to ensure that we can provide and maintain quality care through adequate staffing and currently have 10 clients who thrive in this program.

Beginning in 2007, partnering Regional Centers and Kavere Services Inc. shared a mission to serve individuals with developmental disabilities and converged on development of a specialized residential settings serving children and adults. The primary purpose is to keep individuals in a stable long term living arrangement in which the individuals will learn, acquire, retain and expand critical life skills, develop coping skills, and discover his or her talents on the journey to realizing maximum potential.

We have 4 group homes in Modesto that offer supports in the home and community. One home is licensed as an ICF-DDH to assist residents who have more complex needs. Three homes offer supports to residents who nee guidance for daily living, accessing the community and decision making.

Our approach is multi-faceted, and includes services for enhancing skills in the following areas: Social skills, pedestrian safety, public transportation, community resources, entertainment, exercise, dining, shopping, budgeting, self-advocacy, education, volunteering, and going to community events like local sports games, bowling, etc….

Enriching Lives provides a flexible living option designed according to the specific needs and preferences of each Individual and is an alternative to living with family, independently, in a residential home, or in a developmental center.
